Susan Boyle has a great recording voice, says Simon Cowell

Susan Boyle on stageSimon Cowell has been working in the studio with Susan Boyle, according to a report in Now Magazine, and he has praised her, saying “She sounds fantastic on record. It’s not all going to be show tunes. It’s not an obvious record but so far, it’s good.

“She’s got a really good recording voice and I’m going to take my time. She’s happy and I think she’s enjoying the process.”

I was wondering how she was managing to find time to lay down tracks in a studio whilst still on the Britain’s Got Talent tour. I also thought the recording was going to be done in Prague. What do I know!

Other News

Meanwhile, this year’s Royal Variety Performance will be in Blackpool on December 7th. The show will feature Diversity, the dance troupe who beat Susan Boyle into second place on the Britain’s Got Talent show.

And finally, the Daily Record has reported that two tourists from New York have flown to Scotland to visit Susan Boyle’s hometown of Blackburn in West Lothian, even though Susan is still on tour.

Del McMillan, 82, and Leslie McMillan, 52, decided to treat themselves to a Susan Boyle Experience. They have visited Susan’s pub, seen her house and visited her primary school and church. And whilst they didn’t meet Susan herself, they did meet her brother, John.

Leslie told the Daily Record: “It’s the whole Susan Boyle package that everybody loves.

“Susan has this otherworldly voice and when we watched her we couldn’t help crying.

“Blackburn’s very nice, we both grew up in small towns so we didn’t get a big shock. Everyone has been so friendly.”

“We couldn’t believe she came second and I would say over 90 per cent of Americans thought she’d been robbed.”

Susan Boyle – Simon says mistakes were made

susan-boyle-simon-cowell-admits-mistakesSimon Cowell has been talking to the press about “the situation” with Susan Boyle, and he has said that it could have been handle better. Organisers of the Britain’s Got Talent tour have said that Susan will miss the live shows in Nottingham today, for another rest day, but it is still hoped that she will be well enough to perform in London.

Simon Cowell told the Daily Mail: “Looking back on it all, it has become clear to me that we didn’t handle the situation with Susan as well as we could have.

“Yet, to be honest, I don’t know that I could have done it any differently.”

He added that he had met Susan Boyle’s family last week and he asked them whether she should have been allowed to continue competing in the Britain’s Got Talent competition when it was apparent how stressed she was becoming.

He said that the family had all agreed she should be allowed to continue, confirming that she had always wanted to sing.

Cowell admitted that he had not expected Boyle to become “the most famous woman in the world” when she first auditioned.

Although her audition was good, Simon said that she came over “well but not sensationally”. Nevertheless, the Youtube footage of her audition became an internet sensation, and gained Susan celebrity fans in the UK and US.

Cowell said that initially Susan Boyle “seemed fine with all the attention” and she told him that she was having the time of her life.

As the final approached Susan was nervous but “seemed fine” and had any help she needed, including the support of her close friend. Simon said that she did not to him appear to be more nervous than Paul Potts was before his final two years earlier. “She understood the significance of the night,” he said.

After the result was announced, and Susan was not the winner of the viewer phone in poll, Simon Cowell commented: “I suddenly realised she didn’t know how to cope with losing. We didn’t handle it well.”

He added: “Then, at the crucial point in the final, I looked at her face and thought, ‘Christ, she doesn’t know how to deal with not winning’.

“It was a bad moment.

Afterwards, I went over and gave her a hug and tried to reassure her.

“I said, ‘Susan, my offer to record an album with you still stands’. We agreed we would work together – that it wasn’t the end of the road.”

Afterwards Simon he admitted he felt a little uncomfortable, and the rest is history. As far as the tour goes, it is up to Susan whether or not she feels able to perform. When she has been able to perform, her performances have been amazingly well received.

As far as Susan Boyle’s fans are concerned (and I know, because they write to me), they just want Susan to be well. They think she should rest as much as she needs to and not be worried about the tour. The last thing that they would want is for her to feel that she is letting any body down. They are all looking forward to her bringing out a CD so they can listen to her at home.

Susan Boyle to perform in Las Vegas Shows

susan boyle on stage in edinburghSusan Boyle is being lined up to appear in a series of shows in Las Vegas, according to an article in today’s Telegraph.

Simon Cowell is well acquainted with Robert Earl, who owns the Planet Hollywood casino and hotel and they have been talking about Susan performing there.

A source told the Telegraph: “Simon is confident that Susan will achieve a huge amount of success in America.

“She is already a household name despite coming second on the show, and she is now being lined up to play a number of dates in Las Vegas.

“The Planet Hollywood bigwigs have been following Susan since she burst on to the scene and are keen to give her a run at the hotel.”

Simon Cowell has confirmed that Susan has a record deal which will be produced under his SyCo record label. It is a “?5 million, two-album deal”, according to the Scotsman website.

He told GMTV earlier in the week: “We are going to make a record with her.”

Simon Cowell talks about Susan Boyle on GMTV

susan-boyle-live-at-glasgowSimon Cowell has spoken on GMTV about the immense pressure Susan Boyle found herself to be under following her appearance on “Britain’s Got Talent”.

He said that she had found it “very, very difficult” to cope with the intense media pressure and interest her audition had generated.

Simon added: “Everyone is writing about her, she’s in the spotlight and she found it difficult to cope with and, at that point, even I sat down with her and said ‘Look, if this is getting too much for you, you don’t have to go into the final, no-one is going to force you’.”

“And she looked me in the eye and said ‘No, I want to win this competition, I want to give it a go’ and that was the decision we all made.”

Meanwhile, Susan appeared on stage in Glasgow last night on the Britain’s Got Talent tour to a rapt audience, and is expected to appear live in Edinburgh tonight.

Susan Boyle not performing in Manchester tonight

susan-boyle-after-an-earlier-tour-performanceSusan Boyle will not be performing in the Britain’s Got Talent Live Tour in Manchester tonight, according to a report that has appeared on Sky News.

It is thought to be a sensible precaution that Susan has a rest day following three successful performances, and she has apologised to her fans for not appearing in Manchester.

Following Susan’s stay in The Priory, it would still be wise not to place too much pressure on her.

Showbiz blogger Zoe Griffin told Sky News Online: “The pressure on Susan is incredible and at each show there have been about 5,000 people screaming for her.”

Zoe Griffin believes that other ensemble acts such as Diversity and Stavros Flatley have the benefit of support from each other. Susan Boyle, as a solo act, does not enjoy that support.

Max Clifford, the publicist who represents Simon Cowell, told Sky News: “I’ve spoken to Simon and his view is to take things very carefully with Susan as that is the most important thing.

“Everything relating to Susan is being done very gently and what everybody is concerned with is what’s best for her and the plan is to take every day as it comes.”

“As Simon has made very clear, anything – whether live or in the studio – depends on how Susan is and what’s best for her.”

Simon Cowell gets a Susan Boyle makeover

simon-cowell-gets-susan-boyle-makeoverSusan Boyle has been very kind and has let her famous style be adopted by Simon Cowell, as he felt his image updating. The result of this transformation is available exclusively here on my Susan Boyle fan site!

I think Simon looks incredibly handsome with his new look, don’t you? Various friends of mine know to their cost that this is not the first time I have been mischievous when presented with a photo and some clever software.

gordon-brown-gets-a-susan-boyle-makeoverI got the idea for this transformation from an article that appeared in today’s Telegraph, where they are reporting on an American current affairs programme, The Daily Show, who have themselves given Gordon Brown a Susan Boyle makeover.

This makeover has apparently lead to an increase in popularity for Mr Brown across the water, as most Americans didn’t really pay much heed to him before the Susan Boyle transformation brought him to their attention.

Nevertheless, I think that Simon Cowell benefits far more from the Susan Boyle makeover than Gordon Brown, although admittedly, everyone across the world already knows who Simon Cowell is.

Susan Boyle and Pebbles

susan-boyle-with-pebbles1I now have a photo of Susan Boyle with Pebbles, after a sharp eyed reader of this site noticed that Pebbles appears in the Susan Boyle semi-final video on Youtube. I also notice that The Sun seem to have taken the same screen print as me from the video!

The Sun also say this morning that Susan Boyle and Pebbles are moving into a luxury private appartment that Simon Cowell is renting for her.

I have to say, Pebbles is a very handsome cat. Look at those big alert eyes and that intelligent face. I can understand why Susan wouldn’t want to be apart from him for too long.

Susan Boyle to be managed by Ossie Kilkenny

Susan Boyle, looking happy, waving to fans

Susan Boyle has signed Ossie Kilkenny to manage her career and make the most of the opportunities that will be available to her, according to a report in today’s Daily Mirror.

Ossie Kilkenny is a show business accountant and the man who managed the supergroup U2, helping them to become multi millionaires. Susan Boyle and her family are hoping that Ossie can do the same for Susan. Ossie, 62, has also managed Tina Turner, The Verve, Bryan Adams and Van Morrison.

As part of the deal, Simon Cowell’s record label SyCo will release Susan Boyle’s debut album. However, it will be Ossie, 62, who will actually manage Susan’s affairs and ensure that every deal that she signs? is as lucrative as possible.

Susan’s niece, Kirsty Foy, 40, is an entertainment and media lawyer and she organised the meeting between Ossie and Susan and her family last month. Kirsty approached Ossie so that Susan could have independent career advice.

On Friday, Susan and one of Ossie’s representatives met SyCo chiefs. (SyCo is Simon Cowell’s company which is affiliated with the Sony BMG record label). A source said to The Mirror: ?Susan wants to work with Simon but she and her family have also chosen to bring in Ossie Kilkenny as manager. So the record will be with Simon?s label, but Ossie will look after her management.?

Yesterday, Susan went home for the first time and to be reunited with her cat, Pebbles.

The next step for Susan will be the Britain’s Got Talent tour, due to start on Friday, followed by the recording of her album.

Susan Boyle leaves the Priory Clinic

susan-boyle-leaves-the-prioryGreat news! Susan Boyle has left the Priory Clinic today, according to an article in the Daily Telegraph. She was admitted there on Sunday (May 31st) suffering from “exhaustion” following the final of Britain’s Got Talent.

Her brother Gerry Boyle, talking to GMTV, said that Ms Boyle was now staying in a flat in central London.

“She’s much happier. She’s seems a lot more like herself,” he said.

Mr Boyle said that Susan had spoken to people who had reassured her that she still had a great singing career to look forward to, and that it “wasn’t the end” after finishing second.

“Things are becoming clearer for her now,” he said.

“She’s now beginning to believe that, ‘yes indeed, I will be a singer’.”

Gerry Boyle also added that he is happy for Simon Cowell to manage his Susan Boyle’s future career.

“He’s been around the dancefloor a few times,” he said.

“I’m sure Simon will do a good job for her.”

I know that I am echoing the views of millions of people across the world when I say, let’s hope the press are less negative now so that Susan can be allowed to enjoy and achieve her full potential.

Susan Boyle – Press told to back off by Press Complaints Commission (PCC) at Simon Cowell’s request

Susan Boyle

Susan Boyle

A spokesperson for Simon Cowell’s company, SyCo, has “politely” spoken to The Press Complaints Commission advising them that newspapers should not breach Susan Boyle’s right to privacy by reporting details of her health, according to an article in The Guardian.

The PCC has sent an email to all newspapers reminding them of the code of practice.

The PPC stated in the email: “We have been contacted by the media representative of Susan Boyle, who recently appeared on the programme Britain’s Got Talent,” the commission said in the email.

“[They are] concerned about the publication of details about Ms Boyle’s health and treatment. [They have] referred to clause 3 (privacy) of the code and asked the PCC to pass on [their] concerns so that editors can take them into consideration for the future.”

And about time too! It’s nice to see Simon Cowell again acting in Susan’s best interest, and just a shame that the press were not warned off a bit sooner.

Judging by the comments I have received since running this fan site, virtually everyone has been critical of certain elements of the media for being negative and sensationalist, and people just want Susan to be well again so they can buy her records, watch her perform and if they are lucky, get a signed photo to put on their wall at work for inspiration throughout the day!
