Susan Boyle is number one in the UK album charts, with the best selling debut album in the history of the UK chart.? According to BBC News, Susan has so far sold 410,000 copies of her album, I Dreamed a Dream.

Simon Cowell has said that he is “proud” of Susan and added what we already know – that success could not have happened to a nicer person.

Susan has said the news is “fantastic”.

Cowell said: “She did it her way and made a dream come true.

“I’m incredibly proud of her.

“The success could not have happened to a lovelier person. She did it her way and made a dream come true.

“In Britain’s Got Talent she opened her mouth and the world fell in love with her, which is why her album has been the fastest selling of any woman making her debut.

“She’s amazing.”

Martin Talbot, a spokesman of the Official Charts Company, said that Susan’s achievement is “phenomenal”.

A programme / documentary is to be made for both UK and American TV about Susan Boyle. The documentary will be an hour long, is entitled I Dreamed a Dream: The Susan Boyle Story, and will be shown by the TV Guide Network in the US and ITV in the UK. The documentary’s producer is Simon Cowell, whose company SyCo TV is behind the production.

Ryan O?Hara, the president of the TV Guide has said “Susan Boyle is one of those rare personalities who has captivated millions of fans around the world with her undeniable vocal talent and incredible life story.

“For the first time ever, fans will have an opportunity to see Susan Boyle shine on stage in her own spotlight, witness amazing musical performances in a concert setting, as well as gain insight into the challenges she overcame as she rose to an international phenomenon.”

The programme will feature Susan singing, plus interviews with her friends, celebrities who admire her and Simon Cowell, the creator of “Britain’s Got Talent”.

The programme will track Susan’s journey from church volunteer from Blackburn in Scotland, to the super celebrity which she has now reached.

I Dreamed A Dream – The Susan Boyle Story will premiere Sunday, December 13 on ITV1 in the UK and TV Guide in the US.

In other news, Susan Boyle’s debut album, “I Dreamed a Dream”,? is likely to become the fastest-selling album of 2009, after it smashed its first day sales targets. In particular, there have been a large number of purchases made in Scotland, where Susan fans have been keen to support their fellow Scot -? HMV have had to double their stock of the album in the last few days to meet the Scottish demand.

Margaret Alexander, 52, from Edinburgh, told The Scotsman that she never normally went into High Street music stores. “But you’ve got to back your own, haven’t you?” she said.

The Rolling Stones have also reissued their version of “Wild Horses” after Susan’s version was shown on the X Factor in the UK.

Susan Boyle has a stalker, according to a report that has appeared in the Sun today. Susan has apparently received a number of strange letters from a middle aged American lady, but now the lady has turned up at Susan’s home in Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland.

She was intercepted by a body guard, but Susan is said to have been ‘shaken up’ by the incident.

Simon Cowell has now brought in more protection for Susan.

A source told the Sun:? “Simon is not taking any chances.

“This woman is constantly following Susan around the world. It is a middle-aged American woman who has become obsessed with her.

“At first, people thought it was no more than a nuisance. But after what happened to Leona (Lewis) everyone is taking extra precautions.

“This is an important month for Susan and everyone wants it to go smoothly.”

Leona Lewis, a previous winner of The X Factor who has since become an international superstar, was punched in the head by a jealous fan at a book signing a few weeks ago.

Colleagues of Sharon Osbourne, reportedly including Simon Cowell, were not surprised at her remarks about Susan Boyle’s appearance.

A source close to Simon Cowell told the Daily Mail: “This is so typical of Sharon. She never knows when to keep her mouth shut.”

Sharon Osbourne has a reputation for being outspoken. She was formerly a judge on the X Factor in the UK. When she left, she declared:”I left because of Dannii Minogue, simple as that.

“I didn’t enjoy working with her at all and the prospect of spending six months sitting next to her, I thought ‘my life is better than that’.”

She also added that Minogue had “no sense of humour” and “bad plastic surgery”.

Susan Boyle did not attend Simon Cowell’s 50th birthday party last night. The event, the cost of which was reported to be around ?1 million, was attended by many A list stars, celebrities, friends, colleagues and ex-girlfriends of Mr Cowell.

However, reports said that Susan telephoned Simon Cowell personally to tell him that she was unable to make the bash, instead choosing to spend time with her family in Scotland.

I wonder what kind of party Susan will choose, when she is 50 in two year’s time – a celebrity affair or a quiet one attended by her close friends and family?

Simon Cowell has been interviewed on TV in the US (CBS’s The Early Show) and during the interview he said that Susan Boyle’s mini breakdown made him realise that he needs to take more care of the contestants on the Britain’s Got Talent and The X-Factor? TV shows.

Cowell, who was being interviewed by fellow judge Amanda Holden, spoke about Susan, describing her breakdown as “scary”.

He said: “I think at the point where she (Susan) didn’t win, she was afraid everything would be taken away from her and she was going to go back to that little house. She didn’t want to go back to that life.”

He continued: “We’re used to it (the fame). They’re not.”

However, Simon is sure that Susan Boyle’s latest album will be a huge seller. He said: “After all the dust settled, she was happy. She is stunning on record.

“She’s going to sell millions of records this year.”

He also confirmed that Susan will be singing a Rolling Stones song on her album, and revealed that Susan was so happy with the results that she burst into tears when she heard it.

Susan Boyle is planning to visit the US in November, according to a report that appeared in today’s Daily Mirror. The US trip will take place before her debut album is released in the UK.

She is planning to sing at a number of public events in America, before releasing her album at the end of November. It is thought that Susan’s debut album will hit number one worldwide.

Simon Cowell believes that the US market is the most lucrative to Susan, so most of her efforts will be concentrated there.

A source told The Mirror: “We are really pleased with how she is doing and the album is now well on the way to being finished.

“Susan will be flying to America in November to give her fans there a treat for Thanksgiving. Initially there were plans for a single, but now it seems to be all about an album.”

Well Susan, from the correspondence I’ve been receiving I know that the Americans just **can’t wait** for you to get there!

Susan Boyle is staying true to her roots as she has decided to buy her council house in Blackburn, West Lothian. Susan has lived in the house since she was a baby, but has never been able to afford to buy it, until now.

(A note for my American friends and other visitors from outside the UK. A council house is a house owned by the local council or district authority. Previous government legislation gave council house tenants the “right to buy” their council houses at a reduced market value dependent upon how long they had lived in the house.)

Gerry Boyle, Susan’s big brother, told the Daily Record: “Susan walked into the local council office and told them that although she was living in London, she didn’t want them to rent her house to anyone else.

“I think people were a bit shocked to see her but they told her they had no plans to let it go to anyone else – and now she wants to buy it. She will never forget her roots.”

Gerry also added : “She has been given a mobile phone for the first time but can only make calls. She hasn’t got her head round texting yet.”

Gerry also told The Scotsman that Simon Cowell has had Susan Boyle’s cat, Pebbles, transported to her luxury Kensington flat and has given her a credit card so she can go shopping. Susan has had fun buying new clothes, getting her teeth whitened (we know Mr Cowell is an advocate of cosmetic dentistry) and she has a personal assistant called Julia.

It is also rumoured that Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber is helping Simon Cowell and Susan put together her new album.

Susan told Gerry about meeting her idol Elaine Paige for the first time: “It was fantastic to be on TV with Elaine,. When I watched the interview back I felt like a megastar for the first time. I can’t believe how much my life has changed in the past few weeks. I am so happy.”

However, Susan has also expressed fear about her life going back to the way it was previously, asking: “What happens if it all stops?”

Simon Cowell has a reputation for being a Mr Nasty in the reality TV talent show world. However, he is showing a completely different side with Susan Boyle.

In order that the pressures don’t become too great for Susan, her interview on NBC was prerecorded, and not live, to keep the pressure off our favourite lady.

Susan’s chat with Meredith Vieira aired in the US this morning and will be repeated at 9pm tonight before America’s Got Talent (bumping Barack out of the way).

Meanwhile, Simon Cowell has revealed that he is delighted with the progress so far on Susan’s album. He said: “We went through about 350 songs and Susan was blown away by some of the choices. She’s going to surprise a lot of people with this record.”

A lot of Susan Boyle fans are wondering what the lady herself is doing right now.

I received this email from a Susan Boyle fan called Marg.

Hi,
I had heard so much about Susan coming to America to sing for the president on July 4th. It seems like that just went away. Now that the 4th has come and gone, did or didn’t it happen? I’m thinking not.

Also, now that the tour is over, what is happening with Susan now? Is she going to go on tour herself? I know she’s working on an album with Simon Cowell, but he said that may take some time. Is she going to be doing any personal appearances while she’s working on the album. I would hate to see her just disappear now. So many of us just want to see her perform. Do you have any knowledge of what’s going on with her now?

So I’ll answer the email as best I can.

In regards to July 4th, it would appear that Susan did not sing for the president. Indeed, she was still on the Britain’s Got Talent Live Tour and performed in Bournemouth on July 5th. She has also started laying down tracks for her CD, so I very much doubt she jetted off to the US for July 4th to return for the BGT tour on the afternoon of July 5th.

So, how did this rumour come about, and how come it came to be on this website that I write? Well, let me give you an explanation of what happened with a different Susan Boyle rumour.

1. Perez Hilton blogged that Susan Boyle was to be given a cameo role in Ugly Betty. Perez Hilton is unlikely to have just made this up – presumably one of his showbiz friends tipped him off, but the tip off turned out to be untrue.
2. Somebody in the UK press read Perez’s blog and thought, now here’s a story! Let’s put it in the paper and sell lots of copies, because everyone is interested in Susan Boyle.
3. All the other newspapers copy the report, rewriting it in their own words, because noone wants to miss out on story. Here, I put my hand up and say that I am guilty of this aswell.
4. A spokesperson for Susan Boyle replies, when asked the question: “Is Susan Boyle going to appear in Ugly Betty?”, that Susan Boyle has had lots of offers. I’m sure she has, and this retort neatly sidesteps the question. Perhaps the spokesperson isn’t privy to all the offers that have been made to Susan and doesn’t really want to reply: “I don’t know, ask her manager”.
5. A prudent reporter contacts ABC, who deny that an offer has been made to Susan Boyle.
6. Perez Hilton corrects his blog. I correct this website.
7. End of rumour.

So, I don’t know where the July 4th rumour came from, but it probably followed a similar route, then it was forgotten about and July 4th came and went without many people realising, except for sharp-eyed Marg, that Susan Boyle never sang for The President.

In answer to the rest of the points in Marg’s email, I’m reasonably sure that Susan Boyle is laying down tracks for her CD now. Simon Cowell has been quoted as saying in The People: “She sounds fantastic on record.

“She’s so good, the album is not just going to be show tunes. We’re going to take our time with this.”

As for personal appearances and a tour, the honest answer is that I have no idea. I would be very surprised if Susan does not make a trip to the US to promote her CD, especially as the Americans in particular are so in love with her.

Nevertheless, we can’t forget that Susan has also stayed in a mental health clinic since being thrown into the public spotlight, so in her best interests, the gently, gently approach that is being taken with her should continue.? We do not want to damage this lovely lady with our voracious appetite for her.
