Susan Boyle and America’s Got Talent – Piers Talks to the Examiner

americas-got-talent-judging-panelPiers Morgan has been interviewed by the Examiner about Susan Boyle and America’s Got Talent.

Piers has always been a supported of Susan. He told the Examiner: “The great thing about Susan was it came at a perfect time ? a time when, you know, the whole world was suffering a bit from this big recession and feeling a bit down in the dumps. And here you have the most incredibly inspiring story of somebody who had never sung outside of her village in Scotland ? just part of the local church community, certainly never sung professionally ? comes to an audition on “Britain?s Got Talent,” and just like Terry Fator [the winner of the second season of] “America?s Got Talent” before, something triggered this reaction.”

He added that Susan Boyle became an internet sensation whilst they were auditioning for America’s Got Talent, and because of this they noticed far more people turning up to be auditioned. In turn, this has made the standard of the final 40 acts higher than it has been in previous years. Piers said: “The Susan Boyle phenomenon has pulled through into the American show.”

Piers also added that he thought that the Susan Boyle effect would increase the viewing figures for America’s Got Talent. For Britain’s Got Talent, Susan increased the normal ratings of the show by 50%. He added that he thought America will respond to the challenge: “Have you got anyone who can beat our Susan?”

Piers was asked if the judges of Britain’s Got Talent had any prior warning that Susan Boyle had a good voice when they auditioned her. Piers said no, they have no warning. Simon Cowell is adamant that the judges should never have any warning as that would spoil the element of surprise. Remember – he nearly buzzed Hollie Steel before he heard her voice. He said you might get their name – but that is it.

He added the unpredictability and spontaneity was what made the show special.

Susan Boyle to appear on America’s Got Talent

Piers Morgan Burger King AdSusan Boyle is likely to be appearing as a special guest on America’s Got Talent, according to an article in today’s Marie Claire.

Piers Morgan has confirmed that he would like Susan to sing on the America’s Got Talent show, to impress the Americans with her amazing voice.

“If she?s up for it and she is well enough, our feeling is she probably will [appear on AGT]. Absolutely!

“Susan singing live to 25 million Americans? That would be great!”

Meanwhile, Piers himself? is endorsing a new masculine body spray that smells like grilled beef, so I couldn’t resist adding this photo of him to the article. I do know that Susan likes a bit of Piers baby. But tell me, is that really Piers own body?

Britain’s Got Talent faces possible Ofcom probe

Ofcom, the regulator of the media in the UK, is considering launching an enquiry into the treatment of Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent after receiving complaints from viewers of the show.

Susan Boyle is currently in The Priory Clinic suffering from “exhaustion”.

An article in today’s Daily Mail says that the producers of the show have been criticised for not withdrawing Susan from the contest as it is now understood that she was neither sleeping nor eating properly in the run up to the final.

A source from Ofcom told London’s Evening Standard: “There are a lot to go through. There are complaints about Susan Boyle being allowed to perform in the final.”

However, another source from Ofcom who spoke to the Times confirmed that they had received a number of complaints, but denied that there was going to be an inquiry.

Meanwhile, Piers Morgan told NBC’s “Today” show that what upset Susan the most were the negative reports that started to appear in the press.

“What she didn’t like was all the negative stuff that was appearing in the papers,” he said. “You know, you wake up one day and you’ve gone from anonymity to being the front page of every British tabloid screaming, ‘Cracking up,’ ‘Boyling over.’ It’s going to have an effect on you.”

However, Piers Morgan – Susan Boyle’s favourite judge – predicted that Susan would recover completely and go on to enjoy a great recording career.

“I don’t think she wants to go back to Scotland and disappear,” he said.

Susan Boyle admitted to the Priory Clinic

I am very sad to report that Susan Boyle has been admitted to a private mental health clinic in London, suffering from exhaustion.

The BBC this morning reported that she was taken voluntarily by ambulance to the clinic.

Scotland Yard has said that police officers were called to a London hotel on Sunday at 1800 BST to doctors assessing a woman under the Mental Health Act.

It is believed that Ms Boyle has been taken to the Priory Clinic, although the Priory Clinic themselves will neither confirm nor deny that she is there.

Television company talkbackThames released a statement: “Following Saturday night’s show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained.

“She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery.”

“We offer her our ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery.”

Other media reports have stated that after the final of Britain’s Got Talent, Susan ran down the corridor shouting: “I hate this show” and that she threw a cup of water over a floor manager who tried to pacify her.

Fred O’Neil, Susan Boyle’s friend and former voice coach was interviewed on the BBC breakfast news this morning. He labelled Susan’s situation “a tragedy.

“It’s such a tragic situation, a woman who really just loves to sing, an innocent woman really, who is just caught up in this fame game,” he told the BBC presenters.

“I just hope that whatever fame that she has got out of this will eventually bring her some happiness. Obviously at the present time it is not.”

Meanwhile, Piers Morgan was interviewed on GMTV this morning. He said that Susan Boyle was “emotionally drained and exhausted” due to the huge amount of pressure she had been placed under as the show ran its course.

“Nobody has had to put up with the kind of attention Susan has had,” he said. “Nobody could have predicted it.

“It has been crazy, she has gone from anonymity to being the most downloaded woman in history.”

Piers Morgan maintained however that Susan is “essentially fine”.

“She was very tired and hasn’t been sleeping,” he added. “She has just gone away to have some time to herself and to sleep and eat, doing all the things she hasn’t been able to do in the last week.”

Whilst ITV are clear winners, with 75% of the viewing public tuning in to watch the Britain’s Got Talent final (estimates give viewing figures of between 16 and 19 million), one has to ask the question: at what price?

Susan Boyle provoked by mean paparazzo

There have been various stories circulating in the press today about Susan Boyle swearing in front of guests in the hotel where she is staying ahead of the Britain’s Got Talent final.

Susan Boyle’s publicist states that Ms Boyle only swore at a paparazzo after having been deliberately provoked by him, according to a report in The Times.

According to The Sun, police stationed at the hotel approached Ms Boyle and asked if there was a problem, to which Susan Boyle allegedly responded: “Of course there’s a f**king problem.”

?A journalist from a tabloid paper provoked her, the police just happened to be at the hotel and escorted said journalist out after making sure Susan was OK,? said Ms Boyle’s publicist.

Susan was later seen crying outside the hotel.

Meanwhile, Piers Morgan has sprung to Susan’s defence, writing on his blog saying that the bitching about her that is appearing on various websites is making him “very, very angry”.

He says that “Susan is finding it very, very difficult to cope, and to stay calm.

“She has been in tears many times during the last few days, and even, fleetingly, felt like quitting the show altogether at one point and fleeing all the attention.

“I am calling today for everyone to just give her a break.

“Susan?s just a sweet, middle-aged lady from a Scottish village, who can?t really comprehend the sheer scale of what?s happened to her.

“And far from decrying her, shouldn?t we all be celebrating the amazing journey she has gone on, and the fact that she has done more for the reputation of Britain in the last month than anyone for a very long time.”

Well said, Piers. Click here to read the full text of Pier’s Blog.

Susan Boyle Overrated? Lily is just “jealous” says Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan has labelled Lily Allen and other unnamed pop stars as being “jealous” of Susan Boyle’s continual exposure in the media.

On his blog, he says that he likes “young Lily, she?s an amusing cove.” However, he adds “Methinks some of these pop stars are getting just the teeniest, weenist bit jealous of Susan?s global domination.

“And they?ll be even more irritated when she sells ten million albums in America, which trust me, she will – whatever happens in the final.”

Susan Boyle recording of “Cry Me A River” found

An early recording of Susan Boyle singing “Cry Me A River” has been found and posted on YouTube – see the clip below. The song was recorded in 1999 for the Music for a New Millennium Celebration CD and uncovered by the Daily Record. Only one thousand copies of the CD were produced and it was funded by Whitburn Community Council.

In addition, Larry King from the US has now added his name to the list of American Talk Show hosts who want to interview Miss Boyle.

Susan Boyle is expected to be appearing on Larry King Live tomorrow morning (18th April) and also on Oprah sometime next week.

Meanwhile, closer home, Piers Morgan has offered to take Miss Boyle on a date to break her “kissing duck”. He promises a meal in a romantic restaurant, fine wine and red roses. Go for it, Susan!

Susan Boyle’s Audition on Britain’s Got Talent

susan-boyle-britains-got-talentSusan Boyle, right, pictured during her Britain’s Got Talent audition in front of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan. View her audition at the foot of this page

Susan Boyle has amazed the judges in this year’s “Britain’s Got Talent” competition.

Susan Boyle is single and 47 years of age. Nearly 48! She does not have a boyfriend. She admitted to Ant and Dec that she had never even been kissed. After she walked onto the stage, she told the judges that she would love to be in Musical Theatre. She said that she would love to be like Elaine Paige. Simon Cowell smirked.

However, as soon as Susan Boyle opened her mouth to sing, the judges’ jaws started to drop in amazement. In fact, you could hear Simon Cowell’s jaw as it clanged on the table in front of him. Susan Boyle has the voice of an angel. Singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables, both the audience and the judges were stunned. As she finished her song, she received a standing ovation from the audience.

She received glowing words from the judges. Simon Cowell did not admit to being mislead by his first impression, stating that he knew that Miss Boyle would give an “extraordinary performance”. Piers Morgans said honestly: ?That was the biggest surprise I have had in three years of the show.

‘You said you wanted to be like Elaine Paige and everyone laughed at you. You have proved them wrong.?

Amanda Holden added ?I am just thrilled. I think we were all guilty of being cynical before. It was a complete privilege to hear you.?
