Susan Boyle Number One on Billboard for a Third Week

Susan Boyle newsSusan Boyle has retained her number one spot for the top selling album on the Billboard 200 for the third week running. She sold a further 582,000 copies of “I Dreamed a Dream” during the week ending December 13th, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In total so far her album has sold 1.8 million copies – so perhaps Piers Morgan will be presenting her with another platinum disc soon!

In other news, it has been confirmed that the video of Susan Boyle’s Britain’s Got Talent audition was the top video of the year, with YouTube owners Google saying the video was watched more than 120 million times.

Susan’s TV special: I Dreamed a Dream – The Susan Boyle Story was also a big hit, becoming the number one rated television special in the history of TV Guide Network. The Americans were particularly excited about Elaine Paige’s duet with Susan Boyle. Misti in Seattle tells me: “Everyone here is SO excited and thrilled about Susan’s duet with Elaine and wanting more! In fact we are very happy for Elaine as most of us had not even heard of her before and now SHE is also going to have a wonderful career here in the USA as well as her British one.

Misti continues: “She was so sweet to Susan at the beginning when others were making fun of her and she has been so gracious about being the “guest” and giving Susan her “star” time. They both just sparkle together and sound wonderful.

“I am so hoping they do an album together and bet they will as the producers will not let THIS money maker slide through their hands.”

I think we’d all like to see more collaboration between Elaine Paige and Susan Boyle, wouldn’t we? An album of duets would be lovely.

For those of you who don’t know Elaine Paige, she has had a long career in musical theatre in the West End, but became better known by the public when Andrew Lloyd Webber selected her to play Eva Peron in his new musical Evita, back in 1978. It was Elaine Paige who recorded the original “Don’t Cry for me Argentina” and the other songs from the musical, long before Madonna remade them.

And finally, Susan Boyle is unsurprisingly odds on to secure the Christmas number one album spot in the UK, according to the bookmakers Ladbrokes.

Susan Boyle Receives A Compliment From Lulu

Susan Boyle is complimented by LuluLulu has said that she will be delighted if Susan Boyle gets the number one position on the American singles chart with her debut single, Wild Horses, according to an article in the Daily Record.

Lulu herself topped the US charts with her debut single “To Sir With Love” when she was just 15 years old in 1967. Lulu, who is a big fan of Susan, has said that she has “a rare wee voice”.

However, Lulu has said that it might be hard for Susan to cope with the pressure of being famous.

She said: “It is hard to say if Susan Boyle mania is justified. It’s amazing.

“It steps over into celebrity and that is hard to deal with. In a way, it would be better to just let her sing her song and go home. But you have to take both.

“I just hope she is going to be able to handle it because it’s not easy. Everyone can trip up and have their hiccups, but it is about how you recover.

“When I found fame, it was very exciting and scary at the same time. I was carried off in a whirlwind. I had a very nice manager who was a mother figure, so I was fortunate.

“It’s hard to do the work if you don’t have the right people around you.”

Susan Boyle at Number One on Amazon.com

susan-boyle-number-oneA quick update to the article below, where we reported Susan Boyle as being number 2 on the Amazon.com chart. Susan’s Boyle album is now at number one – and it is not due to be released for nearly three months!

One of Susan’s biggest fans, Misti in Seattle, said: “The CD was #2 yesterday but skyrocketed up and is now #1 !!! Yay Susan! Yay SusaFans!

“But amazon.com has been limiting to three the number that people can buy. Glad I got my order in before this as I ordered four! ”

In the UK, I think we must be a little more reserved about buying albums before their official release. On Amazon.co.uk, Susan’s album, at the time of writing, was at number 34.

Susan Boyle Wants to Be Number One

susan-boyle-leather-jacketSusan Boyle has admitted that she has an ambition to top the UK singles charts. “It would fulfil all my dreams,” she said.

Not content with having her audition on Britain’s Got Talent watched by more than 100 million people on YouTube, she has stated that she would like a number one record. “It would be a dream come true. It would be fantastic,” she told Heat Magazine.

However, despite gaining global success and A-list celebrity fans, Susan Boyle has said that she won’t let success change her.

“I’m nobody special,” she said. “I’d just get on with the act and wouldn’t make any demands on people.

She was keeping schtum about which songs she will be singing in the coming weeks on Britain’s Got Talent.

“You’ll have to watch to find out. It’ll be a big surprise.”

Susan Boyle has apparently already been in talks with Simon Cowell and the record company that he represents, Sony BMG, about a recording deal whether or not she wins “Britain’s Got Talent”. However, Simon Cowell recently played down claims that Boyle would be automatically be offered a recording contract, stating: “It’s difficult to say at this stage because I think we’ve got to treat it as it is, which is a competition.”

Susan Boyle appears on Good Morning America

susan-boyle-on-good-morning-americaSimon Cowell predicts an No 1 album in the US for Susan Boyle

It’s hard to believe that I am writing this article less than a week after Susan Boyle appeared on Britain’s Got Talent. Yet today, Thursday 16th April, 2009, just five days after her debut TV performance, Oprah Winfrey, the top talkshow host in America, has asked Miss Boyle for an interview.

As of today, more than 12 million people have viewed her TV performance on YouTube. She yesterday (15th April, 2009) featured on “Good Morning America’ and the NBC today show. Kathie Lee Gifford had to wipe her eyes with a sock that was to be used in the next segment of the programme after viewing Miss Boyle’s performance.

You can view the interview here:

Simon Cowell spoke today about the interest that had been shown in Susan from the US.

He said: ‘She literally just had an offer from Oprah to do her show.

‘If she went on Oprah I think there’s every chance Susan Boyle will have the number one album in America, I will predict that.’

Her brother John, has added: ‘The reaction Susan is getting from people is just amazing. She is long overdue some recognition.

‘I think part of her appeal is that behind the voice she is just such a nice and lovely person too.

‘She is as high as a kite, and she is delighted with everything that is going on. Britain’s Got Talent is a wonderful opportunity for her to have a normal and stable life and that?s exactly what she deserves.’

However, he also added that all the attention had been a lot for Susan to get used to and that it has been ‘quite an upheaval’. Susan is hoping to be well rested before the next round of the competition. She is expected to sing ‘Whistle Down the Wind’, also from Les Miserables, in the next round.
