Susan Boyle Documentary Airs this Friday

Susan Boyle Documentary on ITVAs the release date for Susan Boyle’s new album,  Someone To Watch Over Me, comes ever closer (November 7th, 2011), Susan has been busy promoting her new album.

This Friday at 9pm, ITV will be airing the document Susan Boyle: An Unlikely Superstar. The presenter, Osca Humphreys, spent three months with Susan, which I am told has resulted in a truly personal view of Susan and her life. The documentary is an hour long and during the filming Susan openly talks about her hopes and fears, her fans, and  what her ideal man would be like. She admits that she is sometimes lonely:

“I would be lying if I said otherwise. I often say how lonely I am. You feel it sometimes at night. You just hope the job that you’ve got wins you new friends and maybe one day that vital person.”

Last Sunday, Susan was exclusively interviewed by Eleanor Mills for the  Sunday Times Magazine. Susan talked about her life and a recently found fame.

Susan has also been interviewed by OK! Magazine, which  is out from today (1st November) in the UK.

In addition, Susan has appearances planned in the US. She has flown to New York to perform on The View and The Today Show, then its off to LA to meet up with her friend and supporter Piers Morgan, to be interviewed by him on his CNN show.

After that, Susan is off to Australia to perform on The X Factor and meet fans, and maybe, fingers crossed, get chance to do some sightseeing.

In other news, Susan Boyle is reportedly backing Mary Byrne to win the X Factor in the UK. Mary has apparently been struggling to cope with the pressure of appearing on the reality TV show. Speaking to the News of the World, Susan said she thought that Mary could win.

She said: “Mary’s a wonderful lady. I struggled in the same way. It’s difficult. But Mary, you can keep going!

“Mary’s got a fantastic voice and I don’t view her as competition. I view her as a fellow artist.”

Susan Boyle tops the Billboard 200 for an Incredible 5th Week

Susan BoyleSusan Boyle’s debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, has held onto the number one position on the Billboard 200 for an amazing fifth week in succession, according to MTV, despite a strong challenge from Mary J Blige, whose album Stronger reached number 2 with sales of 330,000 copies. Susan’s album sold a further 510,000 according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan, which pushed her five week US sales total to just under 3 million.

Andrea Bocelli, with whom Susan Boyle has been tipped to duet in 2010, held onto his number 3 position with his album My Christmas.

According to the article, Susan’s album sales “almost equal” those of Taylor Swift’s Fearless, so we’ll just have to wait until Sunday to see if Susan’s album sales overtake those of Taylor.

Susan Boyle to duet with Andrea Bocelli

Susan Boyle to duet with Andrea Bocelli

Susan Boyle is to perform a duet with Andrea Bocelli, according to a report in today’s Sun. Susan will be joining Andrea Bocelli on a new ITV television show “Pop Star To Opera Star”, where pop stars compete against each other by singing arias.

Andrea Bocelli has sold 70 million records worldwide and he has been a mentor on American Idol. However, Susan Boyle’s album prevented Bocelli from reaching the number one spot on the Billboard 200 earlier this month.

A source told The Sun: “Susan has held Andrea off the top of the US charts for weeks – it’s incredible.

“But he holds no grudges – he joked that he ‘must sing with this amazing woman’.”

Susan is being predicted to sing one of Bocelli’s famous duets with him, such as Time to Say Goodbye or The Prayer, which he has sung with Celine Dion.

Susan Boyle duets with Elaine Paige

susan boyle and elaine paigeSusan Boyle has performed a duet with one of her idols, Elaine Paige, for her TV Special I Dreamed a Dream: The Susan Boyle Story which airs this Sunday 8/7c on TV Guide Network in the US and 9:30 pm – 10:30 pm on ITV in the UK.

Susan and Elaine sang “I Know Him So Well”, from the Musical Chess, a song written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus of? Abba with the lyrics written by Tim Rice. Elaine originally performed the duet with Barbara Dickson.

According to the Telegraph, Susan was not told about the duet until shortly before the performance but appeared overcome with joy to sing alongside Paige. (However, I’m not sure I believe this – they would need time to rehearse a duet together, surely?)

Following the duet, Susan said: ?I never thought I would see myself standing on the same stage with such an icon from West End theatre, let alone singing with her as an equal.?

Elaine said of the duet: “It was a pleasure to finally sing with Susan, she was a delight to work with and I think we more than did justice to one of my favourite songs.”

Also on the show, Piers Morgan will be presenting Susan with a gold disc to celebrate her album selling more than one million copies.

Whilst performing the ballad “Who I Was Born To Be”, Susan decided to jazz it up with a cheeky dance routine in the middle of the song. Reportedly, Susan repeated the jig during the second take, even though the producers asked her to keep still. She likes a giggle, does our Susan!

Piers Morgan to host Susan Boyle TV Special

Susan Boyle and Piers MorganPiers Morgan will be the host of the Susan Boyle TV Special: I Dreamed a Dream: The Susan Boyle Story, which will air on Sunday 13th December at 8/7c exclusively on the TV Guide Network in the US, and Sunday, 13th December 2009, 9:30pm ? 10:30pm on ITV in the UK.

The programme is described as being a candid documentary of Susan Boyle’s journey from the small village of Blackburn in rural Scotland to international fame and fortune following her inspiring Britain’s Got Talent performance.

Piers Morgan, who watched first hand Susan’s amazing story, says that he has been “blown away”? by her transformation.

“It is very hard to think of anyone in the history of show business that has come from such an extraordinary background as Susan Boyle,” he says. “To be propelled from the complete anonymity of Blackburn to global superstardom and having 300 million people downloading you, it is to me the most extraordinary transformation I’ve ever seen in this business.”

There is some friendly banter on the show between Piers and Susan, with Susan saying that through all the changes in her life she has become closer to Piers. “I’ve always had a soft spot for wee Piersy,” she says. “He said ‘You’re a serious artist now.’ … It really feels like I am [an artist] now.”

In addition to the expected interviews of friends and celebrity fans, including Simon Cowell, and renditions of “Cry Me a River” and “Wild Horses” from her album, Susan will also be treating fans to a performance of? “One Day More” with the London cast of Les Miserables.? There will also be a segment on Susan at home and on her recent trip to New York where she performed at the Rockefeller Centre for the today show and visited the top of the Empire State Building.

“I’ve really enjoyed myself and I’m really enjoying making the show,” Susan said of the TV special. “I don’t want the dream to end ? in fact, I want it to become a reality.”
