Therefore, it stands to reason that quotes attributed to Robin Williams are entirely made up. A cynical mind would say that the press make up these reports just to sell newspapers.

So, all bets are off.

What Robin Williams might look like as Susan Boyle

When the idea of a film about the life story of Susan Boyle first appeared, it was rumoured that Catherine Zeta Jones would like the starring role. Subsequently, The Guardian offered up Meryl Streep as being right lady for the job. However, now a less conventional and perhaps more controversial front runner has allegedly thrown his hat into the ring.

The Daily Star has quoted Robin Williams as saying: “I’ve been asked if I want to play Susan in the movie. I think she’s incredible. That clip of her singing on Britain’s Got Talent was extraordinary. So inspiring. It was quite a shock when she began to sing.

“I saw some other clip of her singing Cry Me A River a few years ago. It was incredible. She’s got a really great voice.”

Robin Williams, 58, has apparently taught himself to mimic Susan Boyle’s voice with his own version of I Dreamed a Dream.

Of course, Robin Williams is famous for playing that other well known but fictional heroine, Mrs Doubtfire. Other well known male film stars who have played ladies include Dustin Hoffman’s Tootsie and John Travolta’s Edna Turnblad in Hairspray.

However, all the ladies so far portrayed have been fictional characters and the films themselves have been comedies. Many Susan Boyle fans would no doubt be aghast to think of their heroine, recently made beautiful by Harper’s Bazaar, being portrayed by a man – not to mention the fact that Susan herself might be offended. I would have thought that it is in any film maker’s best interest that they get Susan on board and happy – after all – it is her life story.

She is all set to fly to Prague to record her debut album, according to reports in the media.

She will start rehearsing a series of showtunes that will appear on the album this week and will fly to Prague next month in order to lay down tracks accompanied by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

Dusan Mihaly, the orchestra’s manager, said: “I am excited, happy, my dreams are being fulfilled.

“All of Prague will welcome her and what we want most is to have a performance with her in public.

“Sony BMG, Susan’s record label, liked our sound and so wanted Susan to record with us. The album will have a big Broadway sound with a 70-member orchestra behind it.”

The same orchestra were used on Britain’s Got Talent’s 2007 winner Paul Potts new album Passione.

It is thought that other projects that will involve Susan Boyle include a film of her life story, and a biography.

Cyndi Lauper, the famous US singer who had massive hits in the eighties with songs including “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Time after Time”, has said that it would be “fantastic” if Susan accepted a role in the movie. Section B is currently in pre-production and will star US pop singer and actress Tippi Hedren, and also Queen Emily David, a finalist from “America’s Got Talent”.

The director of the film, Darla Rae, has asked Susan Boyle to appear in the film and also sing a duet with Queen Emily David.

Cyndi Lauper commented on the offer to Boyle whilst she was being interviewed by Reuters about her latest film, “Here and There”.

Director Darla Rae’s company, Film It Productions, have confirmed on their website that they have offered Susan Boyle a role in “Section B”.

“Susan studied at Edinburgh Acting School in the early ’90s but was forced to leave and care for her sick mother. I’d love to help her finally realize her dream of being an actress! We’ve even sent offers through the local pub manager where Susan Boyle sings Karaoke,” Rae said. Rae herself spent time caring for her sick mother before finally following her dream to create films, so she feels she understands what Susan is going through completely.

The films producers have stated that they would be delight if Susan would consider playing the role of Magda, the leading female character. The film is to be filmed on location in Scotland and other locations across the world, which leads me to ask the question, who will be feeding Susan’s cat pebbles whilst she is so far from home?

The film’s producer, Anna Wilding, is forwarding a screenplay to Susan. She is excited about the possibility of working with Susan and said: ?I would very much be honoured if she would consider the role of Magda in our black comedy feature film set in Scotland, Ireland, Argentina and Australia called Counterswirl.”

The film would be produced by a smaller, independent film company, and the plot is about “triumph over adversity and all about dreams”.

Susan?s popularity has grown enormously since she appeared on “Britain’s Got Talent” on April 11th, 2009. The YouTube clip of her audition has been viewed over 100 million times and is the most popular YouTube video clip ever, eclipsing Numa Numa. Ms Boyle now also has an entry on Wikipedia.
