Susan Boyle is to perform a duet with Andrea Bocelli, according to a report in today’s Sun. Susan will be joining Andrea Bocelli on a new ITV television show “Pop Star To Opera Star”, where pop stars compete against each other by singing arias.

Andrea Bocelli has sold 70 million records worldwide and he has been a mentor on American Idol. However, Susan Boyle’s album prevented Bocelli from reaching the number one spot on the Billboard 200 earlier this month.

A source told The Sun: “Susan has held Andrea off the top of the US charts for weeks – it’s incredible.

“But he holds no grudges – he joked that he ‘must sing with this amazing woman’.”

Susan is being predicted to sing one of Bocelli’s famous duets with him, such as Time to Say Goodbye or The Prayer, which he has sung with Celine Dion.

“It was like watching a kid at Christmas. It really was a dream come true.”

Elaine Paige gave Susan some useful advice, telling her to “look after her voice”, “not to say yes to everything” and to make sure that she does not “burn out”.

Ms Paige also told Susan that she would be “honoured” to sing a duet with her on her forthcoming album.

Simon Cowell is reportedly hatching a plot to get Paul Potts and Susan Boyle to sing a duet together. Paul Potts, who won the “Britain’s Got Talent” competition two years ago, achieved success on YouTube in a similar way to Susan Boyle.

Simon Cowell apparently thinks that there would be great potential in getting the two Britain’s Got Talent stars to perform together. Simon Cowell is currently planning a film called “Star Struck” based on Potts’ success story. Now a source close to Cowell reports that the producer is considering a duets CD between Boyle and Potts, a former mobile phone salesman who previously astounded audiences with his amazing voice.

Simon Cowell’s representatives have not commented on these rumours. However, Simon has said that he believes Susan Boyle is destined for great things. “I’m thrilled to bits for her That’s why I love making these shows,” said Cowell. “You can’t plan for it.”

She would lock herself in her room and play the records over and over again singing along as loud as possible. It used to drive me mad when I would hear it start up the hundredth time. But our mum would say ‘Leave her alone, it?s all she’s got’.”

Donny Osmond has said: “I would die to do a duet with her.”

Now Miss Paige has added her own message of support to Miss Boyle. “It seems her performance has captured the hearts of everyone who saw it, me included … it looks like I have competition! Perhaps we should record a duet?”

The odds of Susan Boyle winning Britain’s Got Talent have become very short, with Ladbroke’s offering 2/5, which must be unsettling for the other contestants on the show, although Simon Cowell insisted that it would not be “A one horse race”.
