Susan’s last performance was at Wembley where she received a standing ovation and she was similarly received at the Aberdeen AECC with chants of “Susan, Susan” coming from the audience.

Her spokeswoman had previously said that Susan wanted to make as many of the tour dates as she could, especially the Scottish ones.

A spokeswoman for Susan Boyle said yesterday: “Susan’s still very tired – but she is really excited about the show and can”t wait to get back on stage.

“If she were told she couldn’t perform it would break her heart.”

In addition, the other members of the Britain’s Got Talent tour have remarked that Susan Boyle is the main attraction.

In particular dancer Jordan Banjo, 16, from the winning act Diversity said: “Susan is the main attraction here on the tour – everyone wants to see her.

“When she’s singing I just stand at the side of the stage and watch her sing – she’s amazing.”

Wasn’t it nice of him to say that!

Simon Cowell told the Daily Mail: “Looking back on it all, it has become clear to me that we didn’t handle the situation with Susan as well as we could have.

“Yet, to be honest, I don’t know that I could have done it any differently.”

He added that he had met Susan Boyle’s family last week and he asked them whether she should have been allowed to continue competing in the Britain’s Got Talent competition when it was apparent how stressed she was becoming.

He said that the family had all agreed she should be allowed to continue, confirming that she had always wanted to sing.

Cowell admitted that he had not expected Boyle to become “the most famous woman in the world” when she first auditioned.

Although her audition was good, Simon said that she came over “well but not sensationally”. Nevertheless, the Youtube footage of her audition became an internet sensation, and gained Susan celebrity fans in the UK and US.

Cowell said that initially Susan Boyle “seemed fine with all the attention” and she told him that she was having the time of her life.

As the final approached Susan was nervous but “seemed fine” and had any help she needed, including the support of her close friend. Simon said that she did not to him appear to be more nervous than Paul Potts was before his final two years earlier. “She understood the significance of the night,” he said.

After the result was announced, and Susan was not the winner of the viewer phone in poll, Simon Cowell commented: “I suddenly realised she didn’t know how to cope with losing. We didn’t handle it well.”

He added: “Then, at the crucial point in the final, I looked at her face and thought, ‘Christ, she doesn’t know how to deal with not winning’.

“It was a bad moment.

Afterwards, I went over and gave her a hug and tried to reassure her.

“I said, ‘Susan, my offer to record an album with you still stands’. We agreed we would work together – that it wasn’t the end of the road.”

Afterwards Simon he admitted he felt a little uncomfortable, and the rest is history. As far as the tour goes, it is up to Susan whether or not she feels able to perform. When she has been able to perform, her performances have been amazingly well received.

As far as Susan Boyle’s fans are concerned (and I know, because they write to me), they just want Susan to be well. They think she should rest as much as she needs to and not be worried about the tour. The last thing that they would want is for her to feel that she is letting any body down. They are all looking forward to her bringing out a CD so they can listen to her at home.

She also missed last night’s show in Liverpool and both shows in Manchester, although she completed all the scheduled performances in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

A spokeswoman for the Britain’s Got Talent tour said that Susan needed another rest day. She added that it was not yet known when Susan Boyle would rejoin the tour, but that the organisers were being regularly updated.

The spokeswoman told the BBC that Susan wanted to say: ” sorry to all her fans.

“She would love to be able to perform every single evening but she is aware of what she can and can’t do.

“I feel sorry for her because she doesn’t want to let people down but also she needs to have a rest.”

There are a further 17 dates planned for the Britain’s Got Talent tour, which is due to finish in Bournemouth on July 5th.

Publicist Nicola Philips told The Scotsman that Edinburgh’s performance went “really well” but that the singer would need “sporadic” rest days.

“We’ve not toured with her before, so we don’t know how many performances she can cope with,” she said. “We are waiting for her to talk to us, to tell us when she needs a rest.”

Susan Boyle on video singing live at the first Britain’s Got Talent tour date in Birmingham on June 12th, 2009. I wish I’d been there!

The fans who had purchased tickets for the event did not know whether or not Susan would be well enough to appear, and so were understandably absolutely delighted that she felt able to perform.

The Daily Telegraph interviewed some Susan Boyle fans after the performance, and this is what they said:

?She was absolutely fantastic ? after everything that has happened it was really good to see her. She sang the one from her audition and got a standing ovation. She performed very well, even if she didn?t look particularly well and by the end she did look a bit spaced out, I think she was a bit overwhelmed by it but she still sang brilliantly. She wore what she wore in the final and looked very glamorous.?

Nicola Rushton, 21, from Wolverhampton, said: ?She came out and did great ? she really was fantastic. She performed brilliantly and it was such a good night. After I heard she had come out of rehab, I had no doubts that she wouldn?t turn up.?

?She was first on after the interval and she got a standing ovation. All in all, it was a really good night.?

A lady who spoke to the Daily Mail said: “‘Everyone was wondering how Susan was going to do.

“But she looked confident and her voice sounded amazing. She didn’t look like someone who was in the Priory just a week ago.”

The Britain’s Got Talent tour will be continuing at dates across the UK until July 5th.

It is believed that her cat, Pebbles, will be staying with her in London, as his travel box was seen arriving at Susan’s home in Blackburn.

A source has also said that Susan is hoping she will be able to join the Britain’s Got Talent tour from the start date this Friday, where she is expecting to sing her audition song “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables.

Lucy, not Pebbles

Susan Boyle has confirmed that she will be appearing on the Britain’s Got Talent live shows, which consist of 27 dates around the UK, starting in Birmingham on Friday, although a source told The Mirror that it is unlikely that she will make the first date of the tour.

Susan has said: “I?d hate to let my fans down. They put me in this amazing position and I owe it to them as a mark of thanks.”

The producers have made it clear that the choice to do the shows is Susan’s own and no-one has put any pressure on her.

However, the organisers will undoubtedly be relieved, perhaps fearing empty seats if the star attraction was unable to perform (sorry Diversity, but Susan Boyle is the star).

Meanwhile, Susan is reportedly hidden from media eyes spending quality time with her cat, Pebbles. Sadly, I have been unable to get a photo of Pebbles to add to the web site – I think he is a bit fame shy. Therefore, I am including a photo of my own cat Lucy on this page, as she will do anything to be in the limelight.

Susan Boyle receives an "open offer" from Simon Cowell

Susan Boyle may need to stay in the Priory Clinic for a few weeks in order to make a complete recovery, says Professor Chris Thompson, the chief medical officer of The Priory.

Whilst Professor Thompson was not speaking specifically about Susan Boyle, he made the general point to the Daily Mail that “any admission to a psychiatric hospital for a matter of days is, in my opinion, a failed admission, because either it was unnecessary in the first place or the job hasn’t been done fully.”

He emphasised that The Priory Clinic “is not a rest home and it’s not a spa. It is a psychiatric hospital”.

Professor Thompson’s words cast doubt on Susan’s family’s optimism that she would just be in the clinic for a few days.

Meanwhile, government ministers have been calling for a review of the Broadcasting Code so that vulnerable contestants can be sufficiently protected when they appear in reality TV shows.

However, it is my personal view that the negative, unwarranted and quite frankly mean spirited press reports, where they built this lovely, vulnerable lady up and then dragged her down, are what stressed her out the most. This view is shared by Amanda Holden, who speaking on CNN’s Larry King Live, said that Susan Boyle was upset by “exaggerated stories” and “falsehoods” written about her. She maintained that the show was not to blame, and that contestants that appear on the show are well looked after and that Susan “is getting the best support she could possibly be getting at the moment.”

Despite Professor Thompson’s comments, Susan’s family are still optimistic that she will bounce back quickly. Perhaps Susan would recover more quickly if she spent time in her own home, with her cat Pebbles and surrounded by the people who know and love her. I know if I leave my own cat Lucy for any length of time, I always worry about her.

Susan doesn’t have to stress that she will miss out on a career either. One of Simon Cowell’s assistants has been to visit Ms Boyle in The Priory and made her an ‘open offer’ for a record deal.

“Simon Cowell has reassured her there is a record deal there for her if she wants it. If she doesn’t want to do it that’s fine. There’s no pressure and no rush.”

So Mr Nasty has a nice side after all.

It is unlikely that Susan will be well enough to take part in the Britain’s Got Talent tour that is due to start in Birmingham on June 16th, although I am sure there will be lots of opportunities for her to perform in the future – on her own terms.
