Susan Boyle Statue

Susan Boyle StatueA tribute to Susan Boyle, in the form of a statue, has been created by Spanish artist Luz Roberta, an art student at Wimbledon College Of Art in London.

The statue is 3ft (1 m) high, and has its arms outstretched as though it were singing “I Dreamed a Dream” to a rapt audience.

Luz told The Sun newspaper: “Some of the younger students didn’t share my same love and enthusiasm for SuBo at first – but they really like her statue.

“A lot of locals from the neighbourhood have also stopped to admire the piece.”

Luz told me: “Although I was a painter for many years, Sculpture is a new path for me.”

Susan Boyle to be an Ambassador for West Lothian?

Susan Boyle West LothianSusan Boyle has been targeted by The West Lothian Tourist Board to bring extra exposure to West Lothian, the area of Scotland where Susan lives.

There is apparently a plan afoot to turn Susan into an ambassador, as a key element of a campaign to attract toursists to West Lothian’s “hidden gems”.

Anna Lightbody, of Visit West Lothian,  told the Daily Record: “Susan Boyle’s rise to fame has put West Lothian on the map.

“It would be crazy not to try to tap into that.”

Susan Boyle asked to sing at Tribute for Saint

Susan Boyle to sing for Padre Pio tributeSusan Boyle has been approached by The Vatican to sing at a tribute to Saint Padre Pio, a Capuchin monk.

Father Gian Maria Di Giorgi, a senior figure in the Roman Catholic church, flew to Scotland last month to make the request of Susan, according to a report in today’s Sunday Express. Susan is said to be considering the offer, saying:”: “I have a great devotion to Padre Pio.”

Susan is already lined up to sing for Pope Benedict this September when he visits Scotland.

Padre Pio is famed for his stigmata, which are wounds that are said to appear spontaneously which mimic the wounds that Jesus suffered during the Crucifixion. However, some people believe the wounds were self inflicted. Padre Pio died in 1968 and is now laid to rest in a golden crypt at San Giovanni Rotondo in southern Italy. Many pilgrims visit the crypt. Padre Pio was canonised eight years ago.

A gift to Susan was organised by Maria Dorrian, the Scottish delegate for the Padre Pio Centre. The gift consisted of a set of rosary beads which included a piece of Padre Pio’s bandage with blood from his stigmata.

Maria Dorrian told the Express: “Susan has inspired so many of us. I don’t think she realises the impact she is having, not only through her music, but spiritually to people throughout the world.”

“I think Kurt would just die to give her a Christmas makeover. I don’t even know if she’s interested but it’s been pitched.”

Susan Boyle’s brother, Gerry, speaks out. Again.

Susan Boyle legal actionThe thought of impending legal action has not quietened down Susan Boyle’s brother, Gerry Boyle.

In a new interview with New Magazine, Gerry talks further about how he believes Susan Boyle’s career is being controlled and what her mother would think.

He says:”She would be immensely proud. But also immensely concerned. Susan’s the youngest and we promised our mother that she would always be looked after. Unfortunately, here we are cut off from her.”

Ooh, a bit below the belt playing the mother card, Gerry!

Gerry also explained why he is continuing to speak out.

“She (Susan) said we shouldn’t be talking to the press, but I feel it’s our duty to say we’re not happy, because if something goes wrong, we’ll be slated for not looking after her.”

Susan Boyle to sue her brothers?

Susan Boyle sues brothersSusan Boyle is suing her brothers Gerry and John Boyle for breach of privacy, according to an article that appeared in today’s Sunday Express.

According to the report, she is suing her brothers Gerry and John Boyle for breach of privacy after they gave an interview saying that were concerned about her wellbeing.

Susan is reportedly hurt that her relatives are speaking to the media about her and her career, and she is fed up with the constant intrusions into her personal life.

The legal action was instigated after the publication last week of a magazine interview given by Gerry and John Boyle. Gerry and John have their own agent to deal with media requests on the back of Susan’s fame, so says the Express.

Gerry Boyle has spoken frequently to the media about his concern at the way Susan’s career is managed, although I have usually not reported these stories on this website as this is a fan site for Susan and I want this site to remain light hearted, pleasant and joyous, with good news about Susan’s album releases and tours, etc. Nevertheless, if Susan is indeed suing her brothers than I feel this website would be incomplete without a report of it. I do hope all the Susan fans understand this.

Gerry and John insist that they are fully supportive of Susan. However, they have made a number of allegations about how her career is managed and her state of mind, and in the interview they said the family is increasingly being “frozen out” of Susan’s life.

They also expressed concern over the cancellation of her Australia Tour and of reports of her allegedly bizarre behaviour, and in an interview with a US magazine, John claimed that Susan was “not being looked after properly”.

I don’t know the rights and the wrongs of all this. I do know that families fall out with each other at the best of times, just not normally under the spotlight of the media. I just want Susan to know, should she ever read my humble fan site, that all of us fans love and support her.

One SuBo fan commented: “I am happy for Susan that she is sought after by groups of all ages. Susan is always hospitable and friendly toward others. She appears to be pleasurably at ease with the young men. I am sure they were thrilled to be photographed with Susan. I know that I would be ecstatic to have the opportunity to meet and to chat with Susan in person. She is my favorite star-entertainer today. I wish her well in all that she undertakes.”
