Is Susan Boyle being looked after properly?

Susan Boyle on OprahA few days ago, when Susan Boyle was waiting in the BA departure lounge before going to tape Oprah in the US, there were press reports in The Sun and other newspapers that Susan started singing into a mop head whilst waiting for a flight. So the story goes, the airline staff asked Susan to be quiet when she started to shout obscenities.

I ignored this particular report. Part of me thinks that newspapers are always looking for a story. I mean, I’ve sung into everything from hairbrushes to empty toilet rolls. It doesn’t mean that I’m “Boyling Over” – it just means that I am fun loving and a little eccentric – perhaps a bit like Susan, except without the voice.

Susan’s spokesperson said of the incident:”Susan was being playful. She was with her management and was just excited about going to Chicago.” And that is a good enough explanation for me.

However, today I have read another report, this time in the Daily Mail, where a source says that Susan is being pulled in different directions by her managers and accountants who include, according to The Mail, Andy Stephens who used to work with George Michael, Ossie Kilkenny, formerly U2′s accountant and one of her nieces, Kirsty.

The source said to the paper: “No wonder Susan may be a bit frazzled – it’s all a bit too much to take in.”

Apparently there was an incident prior to the one in the airport. Susan went to the Mill Cafe on Monday, a cafe that is situated close to Susan’s Blackburn home.

One staff member – who asked not to be named – reportedly said that Susan was swearing when she walked in, complaining about her niece who had told her she needs to go on a diet.

Well – when my husband tells me to go on a diet, I swear at him! We all love Susan as she is, so nobody needs to be stressing her out by telling her what to eat.

I just think somebody should make sure Susan is happy with everything that is planned for her. She has had an amazing year, but all this travel, to Japan and then the US, well, it would take it out of anyone, wouldn’t it? Then being told to go on a diet. Well, I think you’d be hearing a few obscenities from me too!

So no, I think Susan is in good health and fine form. I do however hope that she is being properly looked after and not being unecessarily stressed by too much travel, tactless remarks or the pressure of too many appearances. Susan’s voice is a gift from God and should be nurtured and cherished, as should Susan.

Too bad the price of fame – everyone critiques you and shares their stories and impressions of you with the media. Of course as a fan, I am concerned about her well-being and her circle of “friends, family, and managers” too. I’d like to see her happy and hear her voice for a very long time into the future (whether she is fat, cussing in public or private, but just being herself and enjoying her life).

Who is really concerned about her health? Is it the amateur psychologists and so-called reporters and journalists who benefit from any deviance from the flock of sheep? Or, is it those wanting her to fail for their own reasons and blast her in the media? Perhaps this did happen, maybe not, but the same story (same words) appearing over and over in different media outlets only tells me what sheep many of the media (and those following are) – and obviously (thank goodness) she is not a member of your flock. Baa. Ok – we all knew she was different, perhaps an innocent, and even naive. In any case, I think we should treat her better (whether she is a member of our flock or not).

There is an article on the IrishCentral website that has another explanation for what happened at the airport. I don’t know how true the article is, but it certainly puts a different slant on the events. You can read the article here: http://www.irishcentral.com/story/news/periscope/susan-boyle-and-what-really-happened-at-the-airport-81924092.html

Why are we not hearing about all the things that Susan Boyle has done in the past as a charity worker. We need more people like her in this world. If I were in a public place and had the pleasure to hear an impromptu song coming from Susan Boyle I would be thrilled beyond belief. Thank you Susan for being a part of this world and keep on singing. Love you!!

It was an outlandish story. The Sun published it and then I knew is was just imaginative writing. That is, not true. The Irish Central report left me smiling for Susan. I’m glad she got her licks in and stood up to rudeness. She’s a gem.

Too bad the press only focus on what they consider bad behaviour from Susan. I think she is just trying to share her excitement with the public. I say, leave her alone and focus on the amazing and beautiful voice she has and wants to share with everyone. No one else could go as far as she has and at such a fast pace. Let her adjust so she can keep on singing for us.
