Susan Boyle duets with Jackie Evancho
Susan Boyle has recorded a duet with the America’s Got Talent prodigy, Jackie Evancho, for the little girl’s first album, Dream With Me.
Susan and Jackie sang the song, “A Mother’s Prayer” after they met on Oprah last year.
?Doing a duet with Susan Boyle was incredible!? Jackie told the Daily Express.
Susan Boyle gets a Waxwork

Blackpool Tower
Susan Boyle has been immortalised in wax by Madame Tussauds in Blackpool*. On 18th April, Susan herself unveiled the waxwork which cost approximately ?150,000 to create.
*(Blackpool is a UK seaside resort on the north west coast of England, best known for the Blackpool Tower).
Susan was clearly delighted with the waxwork. She told STV: “What can you say? They have done a very good job. It feels fantastic. It was such a great process to be involved in and it looks very realistic. She’s doing a better job than me!”
The waxwork is wearing a black dress that Susan donated, and will go on display next to the legendary comedian and TV presenter Bruce Forsyth, although Susan admitted she would rather be placed next to Simon Cowell.
Susan Boyle Celebrates her 50th Birthday
Susan Boyle celebrated her 50th birthday yesterday with a party at a secret location, a country-house hotel near her home, that was organised by her niece. Rumour has it that the party was a karaoke, but as I wasn’t there, I can’t be sure.
Simon Cowell sent Susan a birthday message, which read: “Happy 50th birthday, Susan. You are an amazing lady and I hope you have an fantastic day.”? She also received happy birthday wishes from Piers Morgan.
Susan told the Daily Record how she felt about reaching the age 50 milestone: “I’m looking forward to turning 50. There’s not much I can do about it, but I’m happy to be reaching this birthday.
“I’ve had loads of nice people at my door and lots of nice presents, which I thank you all for.
“I’ve had lots of nice spa things – pampering things, you know, to make myself beautiful. It’s been a good 40s but I’m looking forward to a fantastic 50s.”
Update:
I hear that Simon Cowell bought Susan Boyle a ?20,000 Cartier ?necklace for her birthday.
Susan Boyle and Peter Kay duet for Comic Relief
Susan Boyle performed a surprise duet with Peter Kay for comic relief. They sang together the song “I Know Him So Well” from the musical Chess, the music for which was written by the Abba guys Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, and the lyrics by Tim Rice. The song, which was originally sung by Susan’s hero Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson, was a number one hit in 1985.
Susan’s appearance with Peter Kay was a surprise, but the performance of the song was very popular with the British public and helped Comic Relief to raise an amazing ?42 million by 10pm (GMT) on Friday evening.
The video, which was created by TV and film production company Lion Eyes, mirrored very closely the originally video for the song, which can be viewed below:
The single and DVD of the performance will go on sale on Monday.
Susan Boyle heard humming on a Japanese Beer Ad
Susan Boyle’s dulcet tones can be heard on a series of adverts in Japan for beer. Fans recognised the voice, which caused much chat on forums as to whether the voice belonged to Susan.
Susan said: “I have seen a lot of chat on the forums about whether or not it is me singing the tune to The Third Man in a Japanese advertisement for Yebisu Beer.
“I can confirm that it is me.
“The offer came via Sony Japan and it just seemed like a bit of fun. I really enjoyed it.”
Susan is heard humming in the ad whilst two Japanese men enjoy a pint of Yebisu overlooking a forest.
“I didn’t expect anyone to really notice but you are an investigative bunch,” she wrote in a message to her fans.
“I didn’t expect to receive so many lovely compliments about it though so thank you very much,” she continued.
Susan Boyle is still the highest selling artist abroad
Susan Boyle has been the biggest selling British artist abroad for two years running. Her second album, The Gift, sold 3.7 million copies outside of the UK. Susan’s debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, sold more than six million copies in 2009.
In other news, it has been reported that Glenn Close is to play Susan in an upcoming biopic, although other sources have refuted this, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. It has been said that Susan herself would prefer fellow scot Elaine C Smith to play the role.
According to one source, who said (to The Sun):
?It was always going to be a tricky one to cast. [Susan Boyle's] incredible story is so well-known across the planet that the film is bound to go down a storm.
“Glenn has played some imposing women in the past including Cruella de Vil and Alex Forrest, who boils the pet rabbit in Fatal Attraction. But [Boyle] might just be her biggest role yet.”
Susan Boyle is Crowned Scot of the Year
Susan Boyle was named as the “Scot of the Year 2010″ yesterday, after she polled a huge 95% of the vote.
The shamed politician Tommy Sheridan came second with 3% of the vote, Ewan McGregor the actor came third, Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie was fourth whilst Andy Robinson – an Englishman who coaches the Scottish Rugby team came fifth.? Susan attracted the largest ever share of the vote in the history of the ScotsCare award, with the boss of the charity, Willie Docherty, commenting: “Susan is a very deserving winner.”
The competition had faced criticism that convicted perjuror Tommy Sheridan was allowed to compete, despite facing a term in prison.
ScotsCare is a charity set up to help Scottish people in the London area and to assist elderly and homeless people.
Susan Boyle snubbed by Brits. Again.
Susan Boyle has for a second time been snubbed by the Brit Awards. According to the Daily Mail, insiders have described the snub as a veiled attack on Simon Cowell. This to me does not make sense though, as another of his discoveries, Leona Lewis, is nominated for an award.
A source told The Mail: “She’s (Susan’s) not even shortlisted for Best Female, even though that’s usually the weakest category.”
The shortlist for the best British Female Solo Artist award was selected by over 1,000 professional from the media and recording industry, and includes Lily Allen, Bat for Lashes, Florence and the Machine, Leona Lewis and Pixie Lott.
The winning acts will be announced on February 16th at the Earl’s Court Arena.
Susan’s album, I Dreamed a Dream, was at No.1 in the UK for weeks. An industry insider told The Mail: “It’s disgusting. She has done more for the British record industry this year than anyone else.”
Here is your chance to vote for Susan Boyle in The 2011 Time 100 Poll, which closes April 14th. At the time of writing, Susan was number three in the list. Let’s see if we can get her to number one.
It has been reported that Susan Boyle is starting work on her third album. She is teaming up with producer Steve Mac, who has worked with Leona Lewis and Westlife.
